OUR 2024 PARTNERS

What is Gutenberg? It’s a unique opportunity to showcase your talent!

What is Gutenberg? It’s a unique opportunity to showcase your talent!

What is Gutenberg? C'est une chance unique de mettre de l'avant votre talent !

Taking part in the Gutenberg Contest is: rewarding your teams by telling them how important their contribution to the project is, showing your customers that print should be celebrated, and supporting our indispensable Industry!

The Contest celebrates the talent, creativity, and know-how of its artisans in Canada!

Small and large printers alike, from large format displays to the smallest labels, books, magazines and packaging, bring us color and originality!

Whatever your region in Canada, take part in this prestigious competition, and celebrate print!

But what else?

On the Committee, we sometimes hear: "I don't have anything worth a Gutenberg."

We like to reply that the Gutenberg Contest is NOT a beauty contest. Among other things, the judges look at the production process. Perhaps you've hit a few bumps in the road, or not? Is it an innovative project? Has everything been done to produce a quality item? Did you use several equipment or processes, or not? For you, a project is quite simple, but you're proud of it because your customer trusts you year after year? Of course the "look" is considered, but in the Gutenberg context, the percentage given to design is 15% of the total score.

Remember that the categories (except for the 100% digital category) do not take into account the printing process. You can therefore submit pieces in the same category that have been produced using offset, digital, silkscreen, inkjet, flexo, finishing, etc., or combinations of different processes.

You may be printers, but you are also resourceful, inventive and solution-oriented! You will stop at nothing to bring a project to fruition. So be proud of your achievements, promote your teams and get involved!

Together, one piece at a time, let's help celebrate the 42nd Gutenberg Contest! We are looking forward to seeing your creations!

PRESS RELEASE
Montreal, Friday, June 2, 2023

The Gutenberg celebrated 41 years of print excellence!

Last night, the 41st Gala Gutenberg was held at the Salle de Bal du Marché Bonsecours in Montreal. Over 450 enthusiasts celebrated excellence in print!

In a wonderful atmosphere, the cocktail party, the exhibition of the pieces and the evening award ceremony for the prestigious Gutenberg trophies took place.

The Gala Gutenberg is the event par excellence for the print industry. It highlights the talent, creativity and know-how of its craftsmen.

"The Committee worked very hard to prepare this 41st Gutenberg, and was privileged to obtain the support of many partners including Divicor, our Diamant partner, Canon, Enveloppe Concept, Komcan Komori, Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Rolland and SupremeX. We'd also like to thank our Or, Argent and Bronze partners, who proudly support the Gutenberg," explains Martin Lépine, President of the 41st Gutenberg.

"Some new companies have demonstrated their know-how and sense of innovation. The Committee is pleased to discover that some of the newcomers to the Competition are very small companies operating in all sectors of production. These companies, proud of their achievements, have presented highly original pieces, with high technical challenges", explains Martin Lépine.

The new Mention Hors Québec attracted the attention of new participants in the Competition. The Mention Hors Québec is awarded to the piece printed in Canada, but outside Quebec, that receives the highest score in all categories. "The Mention will certainly be back in 2024! We're delighted that interest in the Competition and Gala continues to grow," adds Martin Lépine.

"Our industry is so vibrant and inspiring. Our activities are an integral part of the economy, employing tens of thousands of people in Quebec alone. We're an indispensable part of the graphic communications chain, so let's be proud! The Gutenberg is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our industry and print in all its forms. The atmosphere was fantastic, the colleagues happy to be together and the decor flamboyant! What a wonderful evening! Keep up the good work in promoting our dynamic Industry," concludes Martin Lépine, President of the Gutenberg 2023.
